Here are the basic steps on how to build a retaining wall with OmniPro blocks:

With a little care and attention, you can build a sturdy and attractive retaining wall with OmniPro blocks that will last for many years.

Dig the trench.
The trench should be 12 inches wide and 18 inches deep for every 3 feet of wall height. The bottom of the trench should be level.

Add gravel.
Fill the trench with 6 inches of gravel. This will help to drain water away from the wall and prevent it from eroding.

Lay the first row of blocks.
Start at the back of the wall and lay the first row of blocks. The blocks should be staggered so that they interlock.

Add the second row of blocks.
Lay the second row of blocks on top of the first row, overlapping them by 2 inches. Continue laying rows of blocks until the wall is the desired height.

Add caps and coping.
The caps and coping will protect the top of the wall from weathering.  Browse caps and coping for retaining walls.

Here are some additional tips for building a retaining wall with OmniPro blocks:

  • Use a level to make sure that the wall is level as you build it.
